The "4th Annual Winter H*E*A*T Fun Run" was a success! Twelve tankers representing 5 clubs from three states attended the January 2, 2010 event at the AAF Tank Museum in Danville, Virginia. We ran unusual battle games for RC tankers that we usually don't run at the other competitive events.

It was a cold day, but everyone had a blast. Many thanks go out once again to Doug, Karen and the AAF Tank Museum staff for having us at this end-of-year party. Photos from the event can be seen here .

Everybody else: Please get your new tank projects ready for the 3-day competition battles at the "H*E*A*T Spring Open" on March 12, 13, 14, 2010. We already have replies from 20 tankers who plan to be there, so if you have been on the fence about coming to Danville...this is the one!!!

2009 "H*E*A*T Fall Open"

Here are some photos of the R/C tank event in November, 2009 at the AAF Tank Museum in Danville.

The biggest news out of this event was the large turnout of KV-1 heavy tanks! For the first time we were able to see an entire platoon of these Soviet monsters in battle. Below, Eric, Will, James and Marty face off against the rest of us:

Will's tank, in the foreground, has a really nice camo job. And in the background, you can see the realistic sagging of the metal tracks look on Eric's pre-Tamiya KV-1:

Active Battlefield Obstacle: Landmine

For some time now, we have been talking about augmenting the battlefield with some active "obstacles". Doug made some prototypes and finally I got around to making one myself. My first obstacle is the "landmine".
